Energy medicine.

According to one of my teachers, Rollin Becker, DO, (1910-1996), osteopathy is the medical application of quantum physics. I totally agree after many years of working one on one with patients on a daily basis.

The dominant model of medicine concentrates on evaluation (blood tests,+) of patient chemistry and imaging studies (X-rays, MRI, CT scans, etc.) which, of course, is integral to helping our patients. Most of my classmates restrict themselves, as do most physicians, to this way of relating to patients.

But there is so much more going on here. We are not just a bunch of molecules that can be measured with lab tests. We are living, breathing systems which are aware and conscious in ways that few of us will ever appreciate.

We are the expression of consciousness. It is not physical. It is vibrational and more real than our thoughts, which are also vibrational, about it.

And it is the duty of the physician to directly interact with this Consciousness and understand its patterns of function and what some might term dysfunction.

I have worked for most of my adult life to learn how to interact with and serve this Consciousness on all of its levels of manifestation.

The human body is alive.

We were never told this in medical school. No doctor is.

Life cannot be measured in a blood test or imaging study. It is the most essential aspect of who and what we are.

Without recognizing this and acknowledging that this is what our work is really about, we fail to truly serve our patients.

I am not talking about some airy-fairy conception of energy.

I am referring to the reality that you are when you can get beyond your thinking, beyond the thoughts that so limit our enjoyment and experience of a full life, a life well lived.

I can feel and see this energy. It has many forms. I work with as many of them as I can, as appropriate.

And you need not believe anything I say in order to get the full benefit of this work.

One MD specialist came to my office at the end of a very busy workweek. He was in pain and pissed. He let me know that he considered me a quack and resented having to come to me for help but had exhausted his options and was suffering. ” Dr. X ( the director of medical education at the largest childrens’ hospital in Washington,DC and another patient of mine) told me to come to you. I just want you to know that I don’t believe in anything you do!”

I told him, Doctor, this is not a religion. You don’t have to believe anything.

Let’s let the results speak for themselves.

Without my understanding of energy medicine I could not get the results I do.
